Walesa criticized the procedure of election of the first EU president and Foreign Minister
Today,
19 November, former president of Poland, Nobel Peace Prize laureate
Lech Walesa criticized the procedure of election of the first President
of the European Union, which now take place in Brussels.
"Not
because I imagined the historic presidential elections in the EU.
Instead of transparent and clear rules, we have a behind the scenes of
the game and talk behind closed doors. So elected president would be
difficult to count on the support of the people and the position of the
present leader of Europe" - wrote Walesa, in his commentary to elect the president of the EU.
According
to the former Polish leader, president of the EU is primarily a symbol
that shows that the EU member states want to go in one direction under
the guidance of wise, strong man. "Instead, we see an ambiguous bureaucratic game," - writes Walesa.
